Make use

Shuts! My blog layout lari until dunno become what dy.

Look what I found at a wan tan mee stall in Taman Desa which I 'bong chan' since primary! Those who stays in Sri Lempah will definitely know this stall which sells good and cheap wan tan mee. There's some empty land around his stall so he made use of the land and plant all these!

Brinjal

Lady's finger

To be honest, this is my first time seeing brinjal and lady's finger on the plant itself. Living in a city is not that good in one way. You tend to lose all these knowledge on gardening, plants and vegetables. These actully ignite my interest to go to vege and fruit plantations, and find info on how everything grows! Where coriander seeds come from? How to grow onions and garlic? I always tell myself, I must do this, I must do that, then I tell myself 'tomorrow lah', and then... tomorrow never comes.

Was chatting with my secondary school mates yesterday when we were out visiting, Isa mentioned about make use of 2009 and make it the best year, and to do something about life, career, future etc. Make use... I wonder if I ever made use of my past 22 years of life. 23 soon, wth. Wasted a lot of time when I could make the best out of it. I should have made use of the porch of my previous house to plant, now that I'm living in a condo. I should have made more use of my stove and oven. I should have made use of time to brush up my skills. It's not too late to start doing so, but, I think I've wasted a lot a lot. Too much.

[Phood] Tenji Japanese Buffet, Solaris Mont Kiara

I'm sure many of you received an email regarding this newly opened Japanese buffet restaurant in Mont Kiara, which was actually a copy of a blog posting by flogger Precious Pea. A wrongful act, but I guess through that wrong act, it actually brought many customers to this particular outlet in Soho KL, Solaris Mont Kiara.

Tenji, situated directly above Cold Storage. At first glance it looks just like any typical Japanese restaurant. Previously they were having a lunch promotion offer whereby you pay RM29.90++ for the first 2 hours, additional RM10++ for the next, and another RM10++ for another hour. When I called, they said they were fully booked till the end of the promotion period. Then they extended their promotion, only modified by paying a full RM49.90+ no matter how long you eat. It was quite difficult to get through their number, always ended up with a recorded voice message saying the operator is busy or the line is engaged. But, just keep dialing and try. I finally successed at 9pm at night, and was given a table for three on last Thursday (22 Jan).

When we reached, there was a medium-long queue outside, a long list of reservations, and everyone have to pay before they get in.

We were seated outside at a "Zen garden" which I really love how they design it. If I'm not mistaken Tenji can seat up to 300 over guests at one go. There are tables inside too, where all the food and beverages are.

Similar to Jogoya, each table is given clips for guests to drop at the food counters to order what you like. They have various counters such as Chinese, Teppanyaki, Western, Paper Cup Soup etc.

Need a private section?

A hit item at the counter. Sweet cold thirst quenching coconut! But I don't know if they throw it away after that or not, because there's still flesh inside! So wasted. I had 6 of this.

I don't know where they get such HUGEEEEE oysters! As HUGE as my palm. But i'm not an oyster fan, only had one. It wasn't cold enough, so kinda jelak after eating one.

The inner interior

Soooooooooooooo-shhheeeeeeeeeeeee

Hey! They even have a popcorn maker!

What really interest me is the flower teas! A hot pick too! Such a good idea to offer.

Wanna try all the teas but can't finish 8 pots?

You must be thinking here only got 7 types. One more is in the pot above. Rose tea. Mwahahaha! I feel so malu walking back to the table with the plate. But good idea right?? The blueberry and the peach one were pretty good. Others were kinda sour. Amaranth tasted weird. Calendula very the erm... weird too. Rose and lavender, normal la.

Prawn tempura! Gone within a second. Not crispy enough.

The portion is very small only. 5 cubes of beef, or 1 small piece of grilled teppan salmon. And the waiting is long. So make sure you place the clips early!

Cordyceps Soup (This is really nice! Very 'bou')

Steamed fish of the day - pomphret (This took half an hour to come)

Kai Lan. (A bit old though)

From the western corner. The mussel is not bad. And the potato.

My so called Paper Cup soup. You choose your ingredients and your soup base (miso/spicy). They'll heat it up at the counter, then bring to your table, and heat up on this. Kononnya heat up la, but no difference, not hot one :p)

The dessert corner is fantastic. I see so many cheesecakes! And not forgetting Haagen Daz ice cream!!! I was too full so I only had one scoop of green tea ice cream and a piece of cake. The Marble Cheesecake is good. These bunch of girls in front of me ordered one piece of each O_O"

They also have varieties of cookies available.

Manage to catch the chef marinating the lamb for dinner (Barbequed lamb only available for dinner)

The lamb carving counter

Overall, it was okay, at least I had a better impression on them rather than Jogoya. Some personal points from me:

i. The pace of refilling dishes is rather slow. Strategy or not I don't know. Especially the serve-upon-order food items. But I don't blame them, cuz too many variety, and you have to prepare one item at one time.

ii. Funny thing is, mum heard it was fully book, but at our area, there were still quite some number of tables unoccupied.

iii. Human's kiasuness, you tend to try to taste more dishes and end up filling up faster. Don't think I ate worth the price :(

iv. They must improve their staffs' menu knowledge. One table tried to order wine, not sure if they sell wine or not, but the staff didn't understand.

v. Taste wise, don't expect super delicious food. The taste is okay. Well, at least the sashimis are fresh.

Happy "Niu" Year!

I like to moo it moo it, we like to moo it moo it! Happy NIU year evlibadi! How is your CNY so far? Hot hot hot right? The weather is really hot these two days.

All home-made!!

Didn't do much these three days (including CNY eve), the usual routine every year:

CNY Eve - Dinner at grandparents'. Just a stone throw away distance from my house. We have steamboat this year. Uncle and cousin came back from Australia this year to join us. So there were 27 of us! Crowded, but we had a lovely and joyful dinner.

Yay, i finally learned how to make this! ;)

CNY Day 1 - Happy Niu year. Brunch at grandparents' place again. Traditionally, my family is not supposed to be there, cuz it's my mum's side, and married daughter shouldn't go back to the mum's place on day 1, but that's been our tradition since long ago. We have vegetarian dishes. Mock duck, mock char siew, mock siew yuk, zai choi.

We usually don't do much on day 1. Played some cards and went mamak for tea.

We have self-trained lion dance crew.

My little chunted chick ;)

That's me behind, haha.

She was so tired after a long day, she fell asleep like that.

CNY Day 2 - 'Hoi nin' at grandparents' place again. Then went to dad's ex colleague's house for lunch. His mum makes the best Hainanese chicken rice. Yum. Really eat a lot these two days. Better drink more green tea. Went home, did some baking, fell asleep at 7 plus and woke up at 10pm and went mamak for supper.

I guess this cny will be like this for the next 13 days. Don't really have the mood to go visiting also. Cuz of the weather. Anyway, have a happy and prosperous new year everybody. Get more ang pao and win more :) And, remember your seat belts! Luv.

Next up: Tenji!

Moo moo year: 1 day to go!

Didn't blog for five days, but it seems like ages. Anyway, hi.. How's everyone doing? Finished shopping for CNY? It's ok, there's still one more day. And CNY is 15 days long so it doesn't really matter. Done spring cleaning? Clean or no clean, my room is always as messy. Stocked up drinks and cookies? Nvm, next year can buy from me. Lol! Bought 988's CNY album to welcome your guests? Wait what oh, go buy la deng! *zui guo zui guo* Scold ppl for the last time in the rat year :p

Somehow the CNY mood hasn't hit me yet. I just feel like, not looking forward to it anymore. Don't even mind going away for CNY already. Went to NZX thought wanna walk the cny market geh, thought it will be as interesting as last yr's, but satu bayang pun tak nampak, and only a few stalls.

Went for 988's CNY mini concert at Brem Mall last weekend, so jam! Really people mountain people sea. Walked so far just to go in the ticket zone thinking will get a better view, but end up have to look at the screen only. Just in time to see Danny singing the 十二生肖庆丰年, then went to eat to kill time since still got some time before he come out again. Went to eat at Wong Kok. When we finished, the concert already ended *dot dot dot* Wasted :( The djs and artistes were signing so managed to see the ending.

Congrats ECX!

Congratulations to ECX for winning the Astro Battleground 舞极限 2008 champion!!! You guys deserve it!

Nah, I didn't go. Watched from home.

This year didn't really go for the recording every week like two years ago. Only went for a few. Never really notice ECX before, didn't realize they can dance so well! So synchronized! Even Marcus said 'I'm trying really hard to look for a mistake'. If got repeat on Wah Lai Toi please watch it!

Bravo to Astro for making this show such a success. It's so much better from 2007. So proud that Malaysia have such dance competition. And bravo to the hosts! :p (If he not good Astro also won't hire him twice ler teehee!) Danny composed and performed a song for Battleground. Awesome. *clap clap clap* *wub*
